Video Marketing: Tips, Tricks & Trends

Marketing trends are forever changing. As new platforms enter the ring and consumer behaviors begin to shift, your marketing strategy must adapt. Keeping up with the current trends will help your brand stay relevant and stick out amongst the rest.

In 2020, Video Marketing is on the rise and is a necessity for your businesses marketing strategy.

Roughly 85% of companies are taking the time to create fun, engaging, and informative visual content to help make a connection with their audiences and drive business. 87% of video marketers say video has increased traffic to their website and 80% of video marketers say video has directly helped increase their sales.

Below are some tips and tricks into creating attention-grabbing and effective video content.

1- Short & Sweet

You have 2.7 seconds to grab the attention of a user – no pressure! With the decline in human attention spans, it is imperative to keep your video content short and to the point. Shorter video content almost always outperforms longer video content. 15-second spots or less are recommended.

2- Platform-Specific

With so many different channels to utilize video content, it is a great investment. Some of the main channels being YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and newcomer, TikTok. It is important to understand each platform’s audience and content specifications. “Square” content is no longer the norm. As more users go mobile and platforms integrate features like “Story Posts”, vertical content is key.

3- Subtitles

If you plan to make an educational or testimonial type video, it would be advised to include subtitles. Many people scroll through their feeds while with friends or out in public and may not always have their volume up or headphones in. Subtitles are a great way for a consumer to be able to still connect with your video content even in the midst of their busy lives.

4- Clear CTA

The goal of any marketing campaign is to make the user take an action – right? With many exciting features to implement in videos, it is important to make sure the call to action does not get lost. Keep the CTA clear, obvious, and personalized.

5- Simple Animations

You don’t always need high-end video production tools to make powerful video content. It can be simple and effective to make gifs and cinemographs out of still images. Whether it’s simply moving graphic elements or music and voice add-ons, there are a ton of Apps you can use to take your static content to the next level.

6- Interactive

As the VR and AR trends continue to grow, 360-degree interactive videos are growing in popularity. 360 videos are recorded in all directions giving the user the control to view the video in any direction and watch the video from whatever perspective they prefer. These captivating videos are a great way to set your content apart from your competitors and allow the consumer to immerse themselves in the story.

7- Shoppable

Shoppable videos are not necessarily a new concept but have seen noticeable developments in the past few years. More platforms, such as YouTube and Instagram, have been implementing new features that allow consumers to shop from the content on their platform. Shoppable content streamlines the purchasing process for consumers in a more engaging and interactive way.
